The Yamaha RGZ 621 is part of Yamaha's RGZ series that were introduced in 1988. The Yamaha RGZ body resembles an RGX model of the time. It also has a recessed output jack, the Access Angle Neck/Body Joint and scooped upper and lower horn but had a less pointy headstock. The body was alder not basswood and the scale of the neck is 25.5" unlike the 24.75" of the RGX. The Yamaha RGZ 621 has a direct out switch for the rear pickup delivering the pickup's powerful output with no influence from the guitar's volume and tone circuitry.
