The Yamaha RGX812J is a super strat bodied guitar with scooped cutaways, active electronics and a coiltap for the humbucker. It has a 24.75 inch scale length which is unusual for a strat bodied guitar and features the Yamaha RM Pro bridge which is a Floyd Rose licensed tremolo where you don't have to cut off the ball ends of your strings. Besides the Tone and Volume knob, it also has a mid boost knob. There is a mini toggle switch that controls the coil tap where you can switch between humbucker and single coil mode. The neck bolt system doesn't utilize a plate to make it easier for upper fret access. It has a bound neck with a design inlay at the twelfth fret. The RGX 812J was made for the Japanese domestic market. The specifications resemble that of the Yamaha RGX 612A which also has the same active pickups. That guitar has 3 mini toggle switches instead of the 5 way selector on the Yamaha RGX 812J. There was also an option for NBS (Navy Blue Sunburst) or PRS (Power Red Sunburst finish) exotic wood finish.
