The Yamaha RGX 1220A is a superstrat bodied guitar with Yamaha Power Focus Active Pickups. It features a 5 piece Maple/Mahogany bound neck with a heel-less neckthrough construction. The cutaways are extra deep with scooped horns for easier access to the highest frets. It has a 24.75 inch scale length which is unusual for a strat bodied guitar. The bridge is a Yamaha RM (Rockin' Magic) Pro, a licensed Floyd Rose tremolo where you don't have to cut off the ball ends of your strings. Besides the Tone and Volume knob it also has a mid boost knob. The catalog says: "The Drive Spectrum control system opens new tonal combinations of bite, warmth and drive with mid boost and noise-free electronic coil-splitting". The fretboard on this guitar is made of ebony and it has a design inlay at the twelfth fret.
