The Washburn Mercury MG72 is part of the Washburn Mercury I series produced between 1993 and 1996 under Grover Jackson. This particular model was made in Korea. It had a bookmatched, flamed maple top and a clear pickguard. Other features were gold hardware and 15:1 die-cast tuners. The pickup configuration differs from the Washburn Mercury MG70, the Mercury MG72 has two humbuckers which are Washburn stock pickups. The Floyd Rose on the MG72 is a Washburn 800-S Pro which is the same as the Takeuchi TRS Pro tremolo. The body was alder and had full access cutaways and a tapered heel.
