The Washburn MG122 ARTIST is part of Washburn's Mercury series produced between 1993-1996 under Grover Jackson. The MG122 ARTIST was part of the Mercury I series which were made in the United States. This serie was highly regarded as high-end instruments and the Mercury I series had "chunkier" necks than the Mercury II series. The Washburn MG122 ARTIST also has the advanced features like the Wilkinson VS-100 tremolo and direct-mounted Seymour Duncan pickups. The MG122 ARTIST is similar to the Washburn Mercury MG122 but they differ in the Bridge Humbucker pickup. The Washburn MG122 ARTIST has a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates pickup as opposed to the Seymour Duncan JB pickup on the MG122. The MG122 ARTIST also didn't come in Trans. Red like the MG122 before it.
