The Washburn Mercury MG102 is part of Washburn's Mercury series produced between 1993-1996 under Grover Jackson. The MG102 was part of the Mercury I series which were made in the United States. This serie was highly regarded as high-end instruments and the Mercury I series had "chunkier" necks than the Mercury II series. The Washburn MG102 also has the advanced features like the Wilkinson VS-100 tremolo and direct-mounted Seymour Duncan pickups. The MG102 is similar to the Washburn Mercury MG122 and has the same HH pickup configuration which consist of the Seymour Duncan '59 in the neck position and a Seymour Duncan JB humbuckerin the bridge position but it has a solid swamp ash body instead of the honduras mahogany one on the MG122.
