The Kramer 5150 was the result of an endorsement deal between Eddie Van Halen and Kramer. Ed assembled the guitar himself at the Kramer factory. The neck was designed with an assymetrical back shape and was later modeled on the Ernie Ball MusicMan Edward Van Halen and the Peavey EVH Wolfgang. The guitar is very recognizable with its Red, White and Black striped paint job (Schwin or Krylon paint), painted by Eddie himself. The guitar was made from all custom parts in the old Kramer Guitar Factory in Neptune NJ. Contrary to popular belief, the body isn't a Kramer Baretta but a Kramer Pacer Special. The headstock was also transformed by Paul Unkert from the standard Kramer Pacer Special headstock to what it is. Eddie van Halen liked the headstock on his Ibanez Destroyer which was the inspiration for the headstock on the Kramer 5150. The Floyd Rose on the guitar was an early version of the Floyd Rose with fine tuners. The saddles of the Floyd Rose actually are a bit shorter than the Original Floyd Rose that came later and it also has a heavy steel block which is heavier than your typical Floyd Rose. The Humbucker pickup on the guitar was either a Seymour Duncan 59 or Seymour Duncan JB that most probably was rewound. Other features are:
