The ESP Mirage Custom is part of the first series of ESP mirage guitars that appeared in 1984. The first ESP Mirage guitars had a strat like body. The ESP Mirage Custom featured an "ESP Custom Humbucker" in the bridge position and the ESP LH-200 humbucker in the neck position. The fretboard is rosewood. It has "The Mirage" written on the headstock. The headstock on this guitar is called the "New York" which will be featured in models to come after this one. Other features are:

The ESP Mirage Deluxe is the same guitar as the ESP Mirage Custom but has a maple fretboard with colors matching the body. Colors are Transparent Cherry Red and Transparent Blue.
